Over the Top
After shooting the setting Milky Way core behind the glacial erratic near Bumpass Hell in Lassen Volcanic NP and the rising Winter Milky Way behind Lassen Peak, I just had to capture a vertical panorama, connecting both scenes.
The final "vertorama" has a 3:1 ratio and covers over 230° vertically. It consists of 7 panels, taken in portrait orientation. Each panel is a stack of 5 single exposures of 50-100s taken @ ISO1600 or 3200, tracked for the sky.
As social media is not desiged for presenting such an unusual format, I made a short movie presenting the image. In order not to end up with an inverted foreground at the end, I had to rotate the movie in the middle by 180°. I hope you like it.
