Make a Wish

Furka Pass, with an elevation of 2,429 metres (7,969 ft), is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps. It connects the mountainous heart of Switzerland with the Valais valley. It is also one of the darkest spots in our densly pupolated and therefore saldy very light polluted country.

I spent a very memorable and extremely cold and damp night on Furka Pass, in order to photograph the starry skies over this beautiful region.

In this image, the core of Milky Way is setting behind some of the highest peaks of the Alps, including Mount Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa massif.

In the valley below, the Furka Pass road is leading into the misty upper part of the Valais valley, which is crowned by the planets Mars and Saturn, while a bright shooting star invites the observer to make a wish...
