Pink Teton Sunrise
This is another classic of Grand Teton National Park: Sunrise at Schwabacher's Landing.
This image was taken just a few minutes before the sun rose above the horizon, positioning the pinkish glow of the "Belt of Venus" behind the Tetons.
I was planning to arrive at Schwabacher's Landing about 90 minutes before sunrise, but due to a problem with one of my tires, I lost 30 minutes...
When I finally arrived at the spot I scouted the day before, there was no room left for me! A photo tour with at least 10 photographers was crowding the roughly 5 meters of river bank, where the famous reflection is not blocked by grass.
Just before my frustrated retreat, I noticed that the tour guide, who did not have a camera, was standing on the river edge as well. Fortunately I was able to convince him that an active photographer had better use for his vantage point... Thanks again buddy, you saved my day and made this image possible!
