Chatting Down the Galactic Core

The galactic core sets behind the Sierra Nevada and Mobius Arch in the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine CA.

This was my last shot of the evening. As the core of Milky Way was already setting, I started to pack my stuff, when the British couple I met shortly after sunset, showed up again. (See: flic.kr/p/zgtcB3) So I stayed a bit longer and showed them some of my light painting tricks and discussed possible camera settings. Of course I also pushed the shutter and was rewarded with this image: Another example that it is well worth to chat with other photographers on site. If you are the one with more experience, you might teach yourself into a really nice shot...

Single exposure:

Canon EOS 7D mk ll

25s @ ISO3200

Samyang 10mm f/2.8

Static light painting with 4 lights for the arch and the rocks.
