Happy Kya 10-2018

Kya is still with us after being diagnosed with Mast Cell Cancer this past May.

Kya's story:

Adopted at age 2 from a breeder after 2 pregnancies. A bit chubby due to being brought up as a couch potato, but she has been healthy up to May. We were given a prognosis of a few weeks to a month. A month or so after surgery, a swollen lymph node was found to have the same cancer cells. We hung onto the days we thought we had left. Vet told us to use an antihistamine as this type of cancer throws out histamines. We started with Benedryl, then hubby who uses Claratin asked if we could change. He also researched the net and found studies indicating that Claratin (the brand) might help with this cancer. To this day we are not finding any further lumps and her senior blood panel came out 99% normal. We are not in denial that anything can happen at this point, but for now it seems we have been gifted. Life with our favorite Malamute continues. She will be 10 this Nov. 11th.

Kya did great on our last trip, showing interest in her walks, food and our love. We hope we get the pleasure of a winter and spring trip with her...at least we wish for this to be.
