"Unverhofft kommt oft, das gilt auch für den Nachwuchs im Zoo am Meer. Seit sieben Jahren hat es keinen Nachwuchs mehr bei den Südafrikanischen Zwergseebären gegeben. Die weiblichen Tiere waren zu alt und an Poca, die 2009 aus dem belgischen Zoo Parco Paradiso in den Zoo am Meer gekommen war, hatte der Bulle Becks kein Interesse; dachten wir zumindest.
Am Mittwoch, den 21.05.2014 war die Aufregung groß, als Poca sichtbar Schmerzen hatte. Die Wurfzeit ist im Mai, aber da Becks dem Weibchen im letzten Jahr immer deutlich die kalte Schulter zeigte, hatte keiner mit Nachwuchs gerechnet. Aber, nach drei Stunden löste sich das Rätsel, als ein putzmunteres kleines, schwarzes Seebärchen auf der Anlage lag. Bald hieß es „das Jungtier trinkt“, wodurch klar war, dass die Erstgebärende Milch hatte und sich um ihr Jungtier kümmerte. Aufatmen beim Zooteam" Quelle: Zoo am Meer
