gail siptak says:This piece has a clarity, like the early morning light that I like very much....and the subtle pattern of the background cloth is wonderful. But obviously, those eyes and that delicate nose got me first.
gail siptak says:The title is interesting. But the contrast of dark dense tree trunk and wispy magical marks all around it made me want to look at it again and again. The gnarlyness of the tree and its obvious age are fine. I think I also like the close cropped intimacy of it as well.
gail siptak says:I love many places, but I live in Texas. And the sky in Texas is sublime. And the hills in the hill country. Susan has caught this perfectly. Anything is possible with a sky like that.
gail siptak says:Mysterious. She may be alive or dead, asleep or in ecstasy. The surface of the painting/skin is so visceral, human and fragile looking. It is beautiful.
gail siptak says:The color, the paint, the perfect pattern of the shirt vs the wonderful mishmash of the face is the reason I like this so much. And I feel something in his expression that makes me want to comfort him.
gail siptak says:I'm from San Francisco, and LOLO Italiana photographs much of the the nature there. Her photos are intimate, often magical and nearly break my heart with their beauty.
gail siptak says:This may be a kind of self portrait of Susan. She is the moving pencil....often capture in line and moleskin. Always amusing and graphically interesting.
gail siptak says:I like this self portrait of Alan because it is less self assured. He is almost caught unawares by us...we have interrupted his thought, his space. The partly open mouth and gaze tell us to back off a little. He is a little vulnerable here. I like that.
gail siptak says:She's wonderfully wicked and self possessed. She's going to do whatever she wants, so back off. I know someone just like this. I love the contrast between the indignant gaze of the girl and the somewhat more innocent look of the bird. But, he may be in on it too.
gail siptak says:Herman's people are wonderfully loose. These guys are no exception. They are just going to sing their hearts out with no inhibitions. Lovely.
gail siptak says:Steve, when he gets into his studio, lives in a magical world. He picks up where most little boys leave off in grade school with their doodles of planes and cars....Steve just kept going. I love the flying pencils.
