Huge Tessin habit smokey quartz crystal North Carolina #7512
Huge 7” x 4” smokey quartz crystal from Hiddenite, North Carolina. Gemmy facetable areas, a brilliant interior rainbow, unusual tapered tessin habit, has some rutile inclusions . This has one area with green mica book crystals and a gemmy orange-red crystal that is either rutile or monazite. Hard to tell. I can see them plainly with a 10x loupe but the color is right for monazite but the shape doesn’t really look like monazite or rutile. These are gemmy transparent crystals though! Some relatively minor chipping as shown in the photo. Spectular and better even then the photos suggest.
