Herkimer diamond with roots growing in it!
A Herkimer diamond that I dug in Little Falls, New York . This still has roots attached that was growing into the soil filled shallow pocket. This also has "relic cavities' caused by dissolution of a cubic mineral that the quartz grew with and around. This mineral was probably calcite or dolomite but could have also been pyrite.
