Rose River Falls, Shenandoah National Park

I haven't seen this waterfall since an extremely foggy morning back in March 2007. Even though the water level was low, it was nice to actually SEE the trail and capture the the whole waterfall with green summer leaves this time around. It's something of a miracle that this shot even turned out. It was not an ideal waterfall photography day - the place was crawling with people and it was really sunny. I was waiting and waiting and WAITING for a cloud to hide the sun. I finally got bored and pointed my lens in another direction... so of course that's when the cloud showed up. I took about 3 seconds to re-orient the camera, roughly frame and hit the shutter for this 10 second exposure. I just had time to fire off this one shot before the sun came back out.

(Fun fact: there was another hiker just out of the frame who at one point started walking across that log across the falls like it was a balancing beam. I kept my camera poised to capture his fall, but he got smart and stopped.)
