En Garde!
I bet you didn't know the deer in the national park spoke French!
I decided to drive around Skyline Drive over the weekend looking for hawks to photograph. Shortly after I arrived, it started snowing off and on. I ended up finding two hawks, both of which flew away as soon as I raised my camera. (I got my chance the following day, but more on that later.) Fortunately I found these two bucks sparring so the trip wasn't a total bust. The bucks were up a steep embankment and behind some tall grasses, so to get a clear shot I had to stand in my car with the door open and carefully balance to keep from falling over. Needless to say, I got some strange looks. I would have loved to get a shot where you could see both of their faces, but they didn't spar long and the grasses kept getting in the way.
