Barred Owl in Autumn (Shenandoah National Park)

During my drive through the park on Sunday, I was so focused on finding Fall foliage to photograph that I nearly missed this barred owl sitting in a tree at eye level right on the side of the road. I spotted him out of the corner of my eye, did a double take, and quickly pulled over. Lucky for me he was willing to pose for a few photos while he surveyed the area for prey. This was by far the best sighting and best photo op of a barred owl that I've ever had!
