Cub Run in Early Summer

After shooting the gorgeous sunrise Sunday morning, the sun disappeared behind the clouds. It turned out to be a great day to photograph Cub Run. The overcast skies helped with the long exposures, and it's still early enough in the summer that there was just barely enough water flow. You can see how much more water was flowing through Cub Run earlier this Spring here.

I have to admit I was sort of tempting fate with this shot. You see, I have all of my camera gear insured for the inevitable day that I drop it in a river, or off a mountain, or run it over with the car. All of my gear, that is, except my brand new 5D. I keep forgetting to tell my insurance agent to add it to my policy. So there I was at Cub Run on Sunday with my 5D on my tripod and the tripod about a foot deep in running water. I was terrified I was going to slip and knock the tripod, camera and all, into the water. Luckily, I returned with all of my gear dry and intact. I'm definitely making a note to myself to contact my insurance agent today!
