Fawn Portrait (Shenandoah National Park)
Yet another fawn photo! Are you sick of them yet? I'm not. I was waiting patiently for this fawn to move away from the tall grass so I could photograph it, and to my surprise it started walking right towards me! As it came up over the little hill, it spotted me and I captured this somewhat startled expression. The fawn continued across the street and walked right past me with it's mother, but unfortunately that's when my camera decided to play dead. The screen and autofocus were working just fine, but it refused to take a photo no matter how many times I pushed the shutter button or how many settings I changed. I was finally able to revive it by taking the battery out, but by then the fawn was gone.
Besides having such a close encounter with a fawn, the other nice thing about this spot was that the air was perfumed with the smell of bacon from the Big Meadows wayside behind me!
