What Sunrise?
This photo is not exactly what I had in mind when I went out before sunrise one day last week. It seemed like it had been dreary and overcast for weeks on end, so when the forecast finally predicted a sunny day I jumped at the chance to catch a sunrise. Well, the joke was on me. There was no sunrise! Instead, the whole area was blanketed in a thick, heavy fog.
I decided to try to make the best of the situation, and this is what I came up with. The water on the left is Swift Creek Reservoir. The streaks of light are cars doing their morning commute over the reservoir.
I usually don't mind foggy mornings for photography, but this fog seemed to ruin more shots than it provided. I saw lots of wildlife that morning, including 3 herons and a kingfisher (first time spotting one ever!), but the heavy fog prevented me from getting shots of any of them.
