Luz Zodiacal (Zodiacal Light)
Esta foto mostra o início da noite de 21 de julho de 2017 em uma fazenda próxima ao município de Padre Bernardo, em Goias. É possível notar um pilar de luz que se ergue verticalmente do horizonte e passa por uma estrela forte no alto, que na verdade é o planeta Júpiter. Esse pilar de luz se chama Luz Zodiacal e é formada pelo espalhamento da luz solar em partículas presentes no Sistema Solar, entre os planetas. Como o Sistema Solar é quase plano, as partículas estão presentes nesse mesmo plano e a Luz Zodiacal é vista como um pilar fino para nós. Além dela, podemos ver um pequeno rastro de luz logo à direita da Luz Zodiacal. Trata-se de um satélite passante que provocou um flare de luz durante a exposição, ocasionado pelo reflexo da luz solar em algum painel do satélite. A foto foi feita durante o X Encontro Brasileiro de Astrofotografia.
This photo shows the beginning of the night in July 21st, 2017, in a farm located in the southeastern Brazil. It is possible to see a pillar of light stretching vertically from the horizon upwards and passes through a bright star in the top, which is actually the planet Jupiter. This pillar of light is called Zodiacal Light and it is formed by the scatering of sunlight on dust particles present in the Solar System, among the planets. Since the Solar Sistem is almost a plane, the particles are present in this same plane and the Zodiacal Light is seen as a thin pillar. A satellite caused a flare seen to the right of the Zodiacal Light. The photo was taken during the 10th Brazilian Astrophotography Meeting.
