Great blue heron

This juvenile seemed to be stalking me, as I was set up and watching for short eared owls. He kept coming closer and closer - they are usually quite wary out at Boundary Bay. I think he may have wanted to probe a break in the ice I'd created by walking across a shallow dyke. Perhaps a fish or frog would have been a welcome change from a diet of rodents that seems to sustain the herons out here.
