Vest Pocket Kodak

The camera pictured dates from 1917 and another I have dates from 1914. In 2015 I plan to visit the Somme and Ypres battlefields with both cameras to photograph the landscape. I'm intending to make platinum/palladium prints from the results. All proceeds from any print sales will be donated to charity.

My great great grandfather’s brother, Percy Siggery, died on the first day of the Battle of Langemarck, part of the Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele). He was 22 years old and has never been found. Percy is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial to the Missing which I will be visiting.

Vest Pocket Kodaks were carried into battle during the First World War, becoming known as the 'Soldier's Camera' due to their popularity with the troops. This 1917 camera has 2 soldier's service numbers etched on it. I've done some research and identified the names of these servicemen. Both served in the armed forces during the First World War.
