The rock and the heather
This shot was taken on the heather moors between Blanchland and Stanhope on the Durham / Northumberland border close to where I live in England. I saw that there was an opportunity for a shot as the sun was setting but could find no interest in the foreground. I walked around and finally found this rock which was small but using a low position and a wide angle was able to make it look bigger. Apart from the obvious sun flare (not the sun burst - I like that, but the flare spots) which is hard to avoid with these shots, I was very pleased with it. Sometimes sun flare can look OK, personal taste I guess.
