Tahoma
Mount Rainier, or Tahoma as named by the native american's prior to the arrival of europeans, at 14,411 feet is a beautiful and dominating figure in the pacific northwest. On a clear day it can be seen from miles and miles away, it is an ice covered beacon and symbolic overseer of the northern cascades. One point of interest and a point that is often overlooked when considering Rainier is that it's actual size, that is vertical rise from it's surrounding area, places it as one of the tallest mountains in the world. It ranks as the 21st tallest mountain in the world when considering it's sheer verticality from it's surroundings. This is mount Tahoma the queen of the cascade range.
