CCC XVI - Excalibur

Excalibur, also known as Caliburn, is the sword of the legendary King Arthur. Over the centuries, Excalibur has taken on a mythical aura, and has undeniably become a key protagonist of the Arthurian legend.

Built for CCCXVI.

This interpretation of Excalibur is based on Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte Darthur, where the scabbard plays a very important role: its bearer could not be killed in battle. The "sword in the stone" motif is present, but it is not Excalibur; in Malory's version of the tale, Excalibur is directly retrieved from the Lady of the Lake, after said "sword in the stone" broke.

This pic is kind of ugly, sorry about that :(
