Whiskey & Rye
This shot is for Assignment 52. This week's assignment; "old."
This is a set of decanters that used to belong to my grandfather. My dad doesn't quite remember how old they are, but he said they're probably from the 40's or 50's.
I still remember the first time I had whiskey -- my grandfather had a bunch of his friends over (all old men) and he had finally decided I was old enough to try some. I must have been 13 or 14 and I had always seen them drinking whiskey on the rocks, so was excited to have a sip from his glass. I took a gulp like it was apple juice, and immediately thought it was the most horrible thing I had ever tasted in my life. It took until my late 20s to actually begin to appreciate whiskey, but now I love the stuff.
Strobist info: Canon 430ex II @ 1/8 + 2/3 power into a closed down 46" umbrella about 4' to the left of the subject.
