Open Mind

________________________________________________

While staying in a temple, Master Tan-hsia got cold, so he took a wooden statue of the Buddha from the altar and threw it on the fire.

The keeper of the temple was shocked and angry. There upon the master poked in the ashes: "What are you doing there?" the temple keeper wanted to know.

"I am looking for sacred remains," replied the Master. "Surely you won't find these in the ashes of a wooden statue," said the keeper.

"If that's the case," Tan-hsia said, "do you have any more Buddhas so I can warm myself?"
