Imitation of life IV
This is the fourth of my IOL project.
I have been (trying to) imitate the photographic styles of some of my contacts, thereby exploring processing techniques, locations and creative expression that I would ordinarily not have tried myself.
This image has been greatly inspired by the unique style/talent that is Marta.
Marta is elusive.
She shares her often personal self portraits and yet remains an enigma. Her creative talent and approach to self portraiture is breathtaking. A brief peek into her soul quickly evaporates to foggy uncertainty, like a scent lost in the wind.
You are not always sure what you see is real, and if so, she must live in a magical world. She draws you into her world and ejects you with tenderness. You have no feelings of rejection or ill intent. You just know you remain an outsider. A privileged outsider.
Marta has birds, flowers, feathers and landscapes that form part of her perfectly composed world. She states on her profile page that she 'takes images', but fails to mention how much creative magic and depth she gives back in her images.
I, for one am truly inspired.

The above image was taken on the outskirts of Windhoek. As it is winter here everything is dry and often windy. The tree on the right is local thorn tree of sorts. My son came along as a bodyguard and had to keep an eye open for those who may wish to illegally enrich themselves whilst I am standing in the dry grass. Thanks Marco!
The doves, a flight of my imagination.
texture: skeletal mess
