Inspired by stave churches and Vikings, this beautiful, dragon style hotel, was opened in 1894.
Built in Dalen (The Valley), at the far end of the Telemark Canal and with it`s stunning suroundings and nature, the hotel became widely known in Europe and had many visitors from the European aristocracy. King Oscar II, emperor Wilhelm of Germany and king Leopold II of Belgium was some of them.
According to rumors, in one of the rooms there will be a ghost of a woman who lost her newborn child there.
