On the bright side
Lying along a beam of light from the setting sun, a mangy stray dog takes a quick nap as the crows busy themselves around him.
The fish market in Negombo is at its busiest in the early hours. However, it is still interesting to visit towards the end of the day. Fish that have been laid out to dry in the hot Sri Lankan sun are covered up for the night and some of the townsfolk head to the beach. Dotted along the beach are small huts in which fishermen ready themselves to head back out to sea in their beach huts by mending and folding nets.
In all the commotion, I spotted this very unhealthy looking dog limp into the sun and settle down for a nap. Despite his diseased condition and the cawing crows circling above and hopping around him, he seemed to be at peace with the world.
