Liquid Landscape at Mill Grove is an ecological artwork that is literally rooted in the earth. Live meadow grasses are braided and woven into pathways and patterns to explore and enjoy under the sky. The braided meadows help us look anew at humble and hardworking grasses, which protect and restore the soil. The labor intensive process to create the braids, and it's beautiful result, helps us to consider many issues from the sheer effort exerted by agricultural field-workers on farms to the constant grooming, regrooming, ordering, and cleaning traditionally done by women in homes. Once completed, the ground-works delineate socially-distanced gathering spaces and convergence areas for small groups.
