I-5 Colonnade Mountain Bike Skills Practice Park
I ride slower than anyone I know even though my French 10-speed is a speedy little thing. I was tra-la-la'ing my way by intuition along uncharted route when by chance I stumbled upon the I-5 Colonnade, a new park in the shadow of Interstate 5 where it cuts through Eastlake neighborhood. Jack Tomkinson of Urban Sparks has been talking it up for some time, but I guess I never really knew where it was. It is absolutely stunning--highway overpasses are cathedrals to the four-wheeled deity. Aside from the magnificence of the columns, there is a bike trail and mountain bike skills practice course and the whole thing is wheelchair accessible. It's not 100% done yet. Even so, it might be my new favorite place to drink out of a brown paper bag.
