šŸ“ Sgwd Isaf Clun-gwyn, Ystradfellte, Brecon Beacons

I've just come back from a week with family near the Brecon Beacons. On my first morning, with overcast skies, I knew woodland would be my best option. And Wales has waterfalls! So without much thought, I headed straight to the "Four Falls Walk" near Ystradfellte.

This is the lower part of Sgwd Isaf Clun-gwyn. The higher part can be seen towards the top of the frame (pics of that to come).

I tried to frame this shot to include as much of the cascading water was possible, while not zooming right out and losing the higher part of the falls.

A shutter speed of 1/3 of a second recorded the flow of the water without losing too much detail. Choice of shutter speed for waterfalls (or any moving water) is very much personal preference. Some like a fast shutter to "freeze" the action. One chap I spoke to was photographing another of the falls with a 10 second shutter speed. So very much a personal choice. What do you prefer?

I felt that the lack of colour and sparse foliage called for dark & moody processing. The title is reference to the edit... and a film I've seen recently which was pretty interesting... have you seen Dark Waters?
