Tante Emmas Laden - Aunt Emma's shop

It took me a long time to decide what sort of shop this would be. I wanted to keep the lovely original porcelain signs on the drawers, which designate it as a grocery store. But proper miniature groceries from the right period are shockingly expensive. I tried various things in it, and eventually it seemed that my collection of small tins was going to settle in and expand the shop's stock beyond groceries to a range of everyday necessities... making it a true Tante-Emma-Laden, which is the German name for a small general store or corner shop.
