Heron and Friends

While sitting by the lakeshore, I was surprised to see this juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron approach to about three feet away. It was unafraid and seemingly curious. In this photo, but not the other two, the subjects were far enough away for me to use my "real" camera, not the mobile phone. In two of the pictures in this series, the Night-heron's three domesticated-duck friends joined him for the photo.
