Hermiston House
Hermiston house was built in 1904 by architect John A Campbell. It is a 2-story arts and crafts style villa with a tile roof, stone dressings around the windows and brick built exterior. The former owner is said to be a Mister James Glasgow who went into bankruptcy in 2000 at age 86, lost everything he owned, but the house was not in his name so he did not lose Hermiston House. He vacated the premises in December of 2006. The true owner and Mr. Glasgow (or his children) were in a feud over the house and it is unknown whether or not that has been settled. Neighbors and others have suggested the demolition of this house but it is against the decision of the Renfrewshire Council to allow the demolition of a Listed Building regardless of condition. Hermiston is described as a dangerous building that is unsafe and entry is prohibited at all times.
