A large police presence made it clear to the EDL who was in charge. Less than 200 EDL turned up, a bit pathetic for a national demo really; they mainly spent their time drinking in Tudor Sq before trudging off towards the station. A large crowd turned out to support the One City, Many Cultures counter-protest in Fargate. Speakers included city MPs Paul Blomfield and Louise Haigh as well as speakers from different faiths.
