Windows Vistas!
An outside view from a farm house window.
Its a great fun to sleep on the kind of rustic cots you see outside. Especially on winter afternoons or summer nights; out under open sky; without any mattress or sheet; preferably bare back. And then rubbing one's bare back in slow gyrating moves against that coarse Jute/hemp twine used for weaving the cot. And as Sibtainn said, you could cool yourself by wetting the twine on hot summer afternoons or nights. The cool touch of the twine on bare skin would be so soothing.
Just heaven! :D
BTW, this shot also reminds me of Gulzar song, 'Dil Dhoondta hai, phir wohi, fursat ke raat din..." (My heart seeks those days and nights of free time and no stress..". I will put the whole song here in some time. As a tribute to Gulzar the Oscar winner for writing 'Jai Ho.." song. Tho AR Rahman has hogged the lime-light, Gulzar has had a role to play too.
So here goes the song and its translation (hard to translate as this is not mere language but essence of culture and life in India).
dil dhoondta hai fir wahi fursat ke raat din
The heart seeks those days and nights of free abandon/leisure
baithe rahe tasavoor ye jaana kiye hue
When i could just sit idle, day-dreaming of you.
jaadon ki narm dhoop aur aangan mein let kar
That softly warm sun of winters caressing me while lying down in the porch/patio (Verandah)
aankhon pe khinch kar tere aanchal ke saaye ko
Pulling your shawl over my eyes to shield them from the sun
aundhe pade rahe kabhi karvat liye hue
I could just keep lying on my back or my side like that forever
dil dhoondta hai fir wahi fursat ke raat din
The heart seeks the days and nights of (that kind of)free abandon
ya garmiyon ki raat jo purvaiyaan chale
Or think of hot summer nights when Easterlies blow
ya garmiyon ki raat jo purvaiyaan chale
(repeat above)
thandi safed chaadaro pe jaage der tak
and we would keep awake till late lying on cool white bedsheets
taaron ko dekhte rahen chhat par padhe hue
and would keep watching the stars from our beds on open terrace(and not a word would be exchanged)
dil dhoondta hai fir wahi fursat ke raat din
The heart seeks the days and nights of (such a) free abandon
barfili sardiyon mein kisi bhi pahad par
Or imagine bone-chilling winters on snow clad mountains
barfili sardiyon mein kisi bhi pahad par
(repeat above)
vadi mein goonjti hui khamoshiyaan sune
together we would just keep listening to the echoing silence in the deep valley below
aankhon mein bheege bheege se lamhe liye hue
with our eyes wet from memories and overwhelmed by the occassion
dil dhoondta hai fir wahi fursat ke raat din
The heart seeks the days and nights of free abandon (as described above)
Hear the song and also see the movie clip.
