Cissampelos andromorpha DC. is a perennial, climbing plant belonging to the Menispermaceae family. It is native to tropical regions of South America, including countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela

While specific medicinal applications of C. andromorpha are not well-documented, plants within the Cissampelos genus are known for their diverse pharmacological properties. For instance, Cissampelos sympodialis, another species in the genus, has demonstrated antidiarrheal and spasmolytic activities in vivo, attributed to alkaloids such as warifteine and methylwarifteine . These compounds have been shown to affect gastrointestinal motility and smooth muscle function, suggesting potential therapeutic applications for gastrointestinal disorders.
