It was not only religion which was taught here

We were surprised at how large the basement school was once we descended the steps. It was not only religion which was taught here but other subjects as well. (see previous caption for detailed notes). This is actually the Udasin Ashram Akhara Sangalwala, one of those informal traditional schools set in a choultry. Founded in 1771, it was originally known as Nirban Akhara after its founder. Our guide Gurinder here is explaining about the school to my bro and sis in law while I take a picture.
