Map showing tectonic plates around India
In a building adjoining the one with all those paintings and sculptures you just saw (see previous pictures in this album) in the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh is the Natural History Museum. It left a bit to be desired in the organization department and lighting was a bit patchy, like in most of the smaller museums worldwide. On the first level of the Natural History Museum is this map showing the tectonic plates around India. India apparently moved due to plate tectonics and collided against the rest of Asia which led to the upward compression of large tracts of earth which formed the mighty Himalayan mountain range. (Chandigarh, north India, Nov. 2017)
