More headlines announcing the Independence of India, this time on the Indian side- these are the headlines in the Hindustan Times newspaper published from India. Though Jinnah, the mastermind behind the partition was thrilled at his achievement, the partition itself caused much death, destruction and total carnage resulting in mass migrations of millions from either side of the border and the resultant mass hysteria, rioting and mob violence. Today both countries are very similar in many ways, but also very different. Pakistan has unfortunately not managed to curb religious fundamentalism which is dragging her down and affecting her growth development.
