Transbay Terminal and Millennium Tower

When it opened in 1939, the Transbay Terminal was surrounded by mid- and lowrise offices and industry. By the time it closed in 2010, towers had sprouted on all sides, including the fourth-tallest (Millennium Tower, pictured here) and sixth-tallest (50 Fremont) buildings in San Francisco.
