The historic Jama Masid Mosque in Old Delhi is one of the largest mosques in India. It was built between 1650 and 1656 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The mosque complex, whose courtyard can accommodate more than 25,000 people, is constructed of red sandstone and marble. The site includes three impressive gates and three domes that are surrounded by two 40 metres high minarets.
