3rd Annual Irish Mass and Dinner

On Friday, April 12, 2013, Pirates of Irish Persuasion and Extraction hosted Seton Hall University’s 3rd Annual Irish Mass and Dinner. Campus Ministry and the Office of Mission and Ministry co-sponsored the evening.

Rev. Neil X. O’Donoghue celebrated Mass in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception.

After Mass, attendees proceeded to the University Center Main Lounge, where they enjoyed traditional Irish dinner and desserts. Many of the participants went home with door prizes, which included a 4-pack of NY Mets tickets, gourmet Irish gift baskets, an Irish blanket, and nearly a dozen other prizes. Attendees were entertained by live music by button accordionist John Gee and the Irish step dancing of Jackie Clark and Anna Plowman. Charley Rosen, author of The Emerald Diamond: How the Irish Transformed America’s Greatest Pastime, gave a talk on the contributions of Irish Americans to baseball, and was available to sign copies of his book. Rosen generously donated the proceeds of book sales to help defray the costs of the event.
