Surface of Mars
Hi guys.
Another 10x here of that same shield bug. Now my setup is fixed I decided to do another stack of this wonderful surface as it has so much texture and colour to offer.
Managed to get the sharpness up a bit from the last image so I'm happy with the results.
Shield bugs seem to last an eternity even when dead. This one landed on my back a month ago now and is still in pristine condition even now. When alive, they release a significantly strong smell from small pores on their skin, glands if you will. Maybe these holes you see here are where they release this solution from ?
Also, note the compound eye to the left and simple eye at the bottom. At a guess, the compound eye takes in movement whereas the simple eye detects light ? Very intersting specimen whatever they each do.
Stacked from 81 images in Zerene stacker @ movements of 0.002mm.
