Wee Yellow Moth
Hi guys !
On the way to my college to get my results today, I noticed this very yellow/green moth sitting on the wall, doing nothing very interesting. When I returned I decided to try a live stack, as I knew from past experience moths can be amazingly co operative subjects.
He hopped onto my finger and then I placed him on a stem I got from outside and began clicking away.
For the entirety of my fiddling about with the CD Drive, backdrop, lights in his face, diffusing it and 365 photos, he didn't move at all.
Now, that means it fell asleep, as they are nocturnal, or he enjoyed the Photoshoot ( Not likely )
Anyway, as you can tell, not my best work - Those yellow feathers made it hard work, and more to the point, I now have 2 Jansjo LED lamps :-) After many months of moaning about them, I now have some and find them very useful.
At first I used one ping pong ball to diffuse the light. Then 2. For my next stack I will try 3 and maybe 4 as they are bloody bright !
50mm Prime FD lens ( Not great for Quality, had to sacrifice that for magnification, moth was pretty big ) on extension tubes.
Oh, and I successfully passed my A Levels with an A*BB so come September I'll be in lovely Aberystwyth !
Heads up ! Many more moths to be appearing in this next month so get your traps out and get snapping, some beauties out there to be shown off !
