Tegenaria duellica - AKA - The 'Wolf Spider'

Hi guys !

Good to back in Liverpool again, though my trip to Scotland was warm, sunny and for the most part very enjoyable !

Had the chance to do some wonderful Landscape photography as we visited quite a few locations that allowed me to experiment with the 10 Stop ND filter I bought a while back.

I did take my macro equipment, luckily my uncle ( where we were staying ) has a back yard full of all kinds of bugs.

On the first day i got a few leaf hoppers and other critters but they didn't come out as well as I hoped unfortunately.

Above is a stack of 5 images through Zerene stacker and then a stack of one more image for its feelers, which is quite a poorly rushed job in all honesty. Remember to use the F Stop reverse method to bump the DOF up when doing live stacks. For reverse stacking you need f8 - f16, of course f8 gives great DOF and doesn't lose out too much quality !

When in the back yard, i noticed quite a few large webs, that of home to many of the above was my guess. I threw a dead Garden spider in the web and this quite large spider rushed out and grabbed it in it's jaws before rushing back into it's home.

I managed to get this one on a leaf and, as they are quite still, I held him up towards the sky to get a blue backdrop to get some colour into the composition.

I also held him for a bit as they seldom bite, which is why I love spiders just that much more.

Not much more to say about this one, the size of the spider was around 3-4cm, but I still used my 28mm Reversed on extension tubes ( 30mm worth ) so I could get loads of his amazing detail into the one photo.

Interesting one of his Jaws below, which can certainly hurt any human !

Have a great week all !
