Soldier Fly
Hi all !
Got a strange fly i found in the Garden a few days ago here. It has a blue tinge to its outer surface and has a lot of hair coming from its compound eyes.
It didn't bother to move when i went near it and seemed very dozy... Then when i caught it, it sat there, doing nothing :D
Looks like a type of Robber fly or something but not sure to be honest.
Quick stack of only 61 images at 6x Magnification with Bellows etc. You know the rest :)
Harder stack than usual as his eyes were very dull but he had very very shiny outer surfaces that reflected light which over-exposed the final image.
I used many sheets of toilet paper to diffuse the light and then made up for this by using a 6 second exposure time for each image... which did test my patience, but i with-held and did the stack properly.
Thanks for any fav's or comments, cheers all.
Lots of detail in the full sized image - www.flickr.com/photos/sequentialmacro/7516535158/sizes/k/...
