When I was little you had to load film in your camera instead of a SD card. People made prints instead of emailing them or uploading them to Facebook or Flickr. When I was little, old cars were new. My uncle had a Trans Am and I thought he was so cool. When I was little, phones had a cord going from the handset to the base. You had to talk to a girlfriend or boyfriend in that same room, whether it was the kitchen or living room or if you were rich, in your own room. When I was little, you had to write letters to your friends and family. They took several days to get there and then several days to get a reply. When I was little, I was my dad’s remote because only the most expensive TV’s came with a remote. I had to change the channel to either two, four, seven or eleven.
I wasn’t less happy back then without today’s technology. Today I laugh when I see teenagers texting away a whole page of conversation instead of calling. I must be getting old. And that’s OK with me.
