Battery vent adapter

Since nobody in the UK sells GM-compatible batteries, I figured the best way to cope was to buy any battery of similar size and capacity and transplant the vent ports from the original battery. I hacked the ports from the old battery with a knife and affixed them to the replacement battery with hot-melt glue.

Connections to the new battery's vents are made using the sheath from a Cat 5 ethernet cable (for want of proper tubing in the house). The wire coils prevent kinks in the tubing.

This method has stood several years of testing. It is already the second battery that I have treated this way. The old ports can be reused indefinitely.
