Boophane in flower

Boophane (or Boophone?) haemanthoides in flower near the town of Nieuwoudtville (Northern Cape, South Africa)

These are bulbous plants from the Amarylidaceae family, they have striking wavy leaves, the bulbs are always half above the ground giving them an unusual appearance.

This particular species ranges from the dry, northern parts of South Africa into the southern parts of Namibia.
