Il coro ITS dell’Istituto di Tecnologia è stato fondato nel 1975 su iniziativa di molti studenti che volevano creare un punto di incontro per che voleva ritrovarsi nel segno della musica e delle attività corali. Il coro attualmente è formato sia da studenti che da laureati che settimanalmente si danno appuntamento per provare e fare pratica. Il gruppo, però, oltre a formare musicalmente i suoi componenti, è in grado di produrre un solido rapporto interpersonale tra i cantori. Il coro ITS è diretto da Budi Susanto Yohanes. Negli ultimi anni il coro ha partecipato a numerosi concerti e concorsi, non solo in Indonesia:

1.Concorso internazionale di Busan (Corea) nel 2010 - 1° premio come coro misto e nella categoria di canto popolare;

2.Concorso internazionale di Rimini (Italia) nel 2011 - 1° posto per le esibizioni di canto popolare e 3° posto come coro misto;

3.Concorso internazionale di Cantonigros (Spagna) nel 2013 - 3° posto nella categoria di canto popolare; Concorso internazionale di polifonia a Torrevieja (Spagna) nel 2013 – 3° posto nella categoria polifonica; Brawijaya Festival (Indonesia) nel 2014 – 3° posto nella categoria a voci miste e riconoscimento come coro favorito.

 

Budi Susanto Yohanes, direttore e compositore indonesiano, è stato nominato “miglior direttore” al concorso di Rimini nel 2011, un recente premio che si aggiunge alla ricca lista di riconoscimenti ottenuti nel corso della sua carriera. Ha debuttato come direttore nel 1999 con il Gracioso Sonora Choir, da lui fondato. Da quel momento Budi ha continuato con successo la sua carriera di direttore e direttore artistico di molte performance, ottenendo premi prestigiosi in Germania, Spagna, Italia, Corea ed Indonesia. All’attività di direzione Budi affianca quella di composizione e produce brani commissionati dall’Associazione per la musica in suole internazionali, oltre che da molti cori dell’Indonesia. Le sue composizioni ed i suoi arrangiamenti sono stati pubblicati da Earthsongs USA, Carus-Verlag Germania, Singapore Choral Research Center e Gracioso Sonora Choir. Gai’ Bintang e Janger sono esempi delle sue composizioni più famose che fondono i diversi elementi della musica tradizionale indonesiana. Essendo un musicista versatile, Budi ha potuto ottenere successi su più fronti: come direttore artistico, come vocal coach e come cantante. Budi Susanto Yohanes è nato nel 1979 e si è avvicinato alla musica con lo studio del pianoforte, ma ha proseguito la sua esperienza da autodidatta. Attualmente vive a Seul, dove studia all’Università Nazionale per ottenere il diploma in direzione corale.

ITS (Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology) Student Choir, which officially named PSM ITS (Paduan Suara Mahasiswa ITS), was founded on 1975, initiated by Drs. Kresnayana Yahya and several other ITS scholars who wanted a unit accommodating students whom enjoyed singing and choral activities. ITS Student Choir formed as student unit residing under LMB (Lembaga Minat Bakat / Talent and Interest Agency) of ITS. ITS Student Choir members consist of college students and alumni of ITS. As for routine activities, we hold weekly rehearsals to improve vocal abilities of our members including alumni, active members, and freshmen. Beside improving musical ability, PSM ITS also develops management and organizing ability to produce good personality within each member. Within the last few years, PSM ITS has proved its existence to its own environment and to the world of choir. ITS Student Choir organization is now led by Aranda Rizki Soedjono as the president and Dr. –Ing. Ir. Bambang Soemardiono as the advisor, and also conducted and trained by Budi Susanto Yohanes. Indonesian conductor and composer Budi Susanto Yohanes has been declared The Best Conductor in 2011 Rimini International Choral Competition, Italy – a recent addition to his achievements in conducting career with ITS Student Choir. He debuted as the conductor of Gracioso Sonora Choir, a choir he founded in 1999. Since then Budi has been successfully conducting and art-directing numerous performances, and acquired prestigious awards from Germany, Spain, Italy, South Korea, and home-country Indonesia. Along with conducting, Budi has chosen composition as his niche. He carries out commissioned works from The Association for Music in International Schools, as well as many choirs from Indonesia. His compositions and arrangements have been published by Earthsongs USA, Carus-Verlag Germany, Singapore Choral Research Center, and Gracioso Sonora Choir. Gai’ Bintang and Janger are examples of his best-known compositions, which incorporate traditional Indonesian music elements. A versatile musician, Budi has various choral experiences ranging from being a vocal instructor, art-director, and a singer himself. he also participated as a member of Asian Youth Choir in Japan, Indonesia, and Philippines from 2004 through 2010. His works and achievements in choral fields have qualified himself as adjudicator and clinician in festivals and competitions. In March 2007, he was invited by Singapore Choral Research Center as a choral clinician.

Budi was born in 1979. Having studied piano and he is primarily a self-taught musician with dedication and strong-willed effort. Now, as he earned scholarship from Korea National University of Arts, Budi currently lives in Seoul, Korea, to pursue his bachelor degree in choir conducting.
