As we descend in the cable car from the peak of 泰山 Mount Tai, we see the lower peaks of the mountain sandwiched between 雲 clouds and 霧 fogs. When I grew up seeing these in Chinese paintings I had always thought that they were artists’ interpretations. It turns out it really does look poetic like this in real life. I was stunned beyond words—it was breathtakingly beautiful.
